Kamloops Indian Residential School – Updated June 2021

In light of the tragic news regarding the discovery of 215 children buried at the Kamloops Residential School, the CISPG community wishes to express our collective sense of profound sadness for the painful losses experienced by the families/communities of these children. Since May 31st, our office and school communities have been provided with opportunities for prayer, moments of silence, and learning. In solidarity with our Indigenous communities, our schools have lowered flags to half-mast until further notice. We continue to teach our students relevant ways to express our condolences in our community and support the many families and communities affected. Students and staff wear orange, some have planted orange marigolds, others have 215 orange ribbons on the school fence, others have 215 candles for a prayer service, and the list continues to develop as we work together to develop awareness and educate our students about truth and reconciliation. Our continued prayers and efforts in building healthy communities of hope and meaningful reconciliation.
