About CIS Prince George

Catholic Independent Schools, Diocese of Prince George (CISPG) comprises the northern half of British Columbia and includes eight Catholic schools located in the beautiful communities of Prince Rupert, Terrace, Kitimat, Smithers, Prince George and Dawson Creek - a geographic span of 1200 kilometres. Annunciation Catholic School was the first catholic school built in our diocese, over 100 years ago in the city of Prince Rupert in 1917. Since then, many pioneers, Frontier Apostles, Missionaries, and families have served to help parishes build seven more schools.

We respectfully acknowledge that we work and learn on the following traditional territories: the Lheidli T’enneh people in Prince George; the Tsimshian Nation in Prince Rupert and Terrace; the Haisla Nation in Kitimat; the Wet'suwe'ten Nation in Smithers; and the West Moberly and Saulteau First Nations in Dawson Creek.

From the time you walk in the front door, you will know it is a
Catholic School. We teach the BC Curriculum and integrate the
teachings of our faith. Many school ceremonies and gatherings
revolve around the liturgical calendar. Students in our Catholic
Schools learn about the treasure and significance of the
celebration of the Eucharist while participating in Mass regularly.
Staffs and students pray together as a faith community. Our
priests visit the schools regularly making connections with
students and staff and often helping at school functions.
Catholic schools have a proud tradition of providing a rich,
vibrant learning experience in all areas: academic, spiritual,
physical and social. Our schools have current technology
to support engaging, effective practice. Our
students participate in extra-curricular teams such as volleyball,
basketball, soccer and cross-country. We proudly offer strong fine
arts programs that include band, choir, and speech arts in many
schools.

Our Vision

Parents, Pastors, and Staff collaborate to form a community where students are inspired to live the sacramental life, to grown in the moral life of virtue, and to thrive intellectually.

Our Catholic school communities include students with unique learning needs and varied cultural backgrounds. We hire qualified teachers to teach passionately and inspire others in our faith. Our enrolment of approximately 1600 students in K-7, K-8 or K-9 has increased over the past 10 years across the diocese. CISPG schools have supportive families and dedicated staff who are role models of the Catholic faith. Our schools are inviting, innovative and inspiring catholic learning communities. These strong and supportive communities offer opportunities for new friendships and an active affordable lifestyle in a caring catholic community.
