Students Learn from Elders and Build a Legacy

I just love how our teacher created this project that connects our students in grade 8 and elders in our community. Students meet with elders from our parish and community over a term in groups of 2 or 3 and have tea with them at their place.

The students prepare questions for the elder to learn more about them - to learn their story.

At a luncheon at the church hall, the students ask another series of questions.

In the spring, the students present the elder with a hard cover published biography that they have written based on their interviews. The book is illustrated by the students. It's an amazing gift to them and a copy goes in our library.

It is also a connection where elders and youth talk after Sunday Mass and create a friendship.

We are looking for dynamic teachers ready to engage our learners and community. See our posted vacancies for Sept 2019 at http://cispg.ca/careers/
